November I announced that we, as a family, were cutting back on some things. Things that kept us locked in an unknowing until much later prison cell. Generational curses tempted us with all kinds of fat, sodium, junk and we have been like Hansel and Gretel, all too eagerly eating and drinking what we want while still exercising in a hope that we would still lose weight or stay slim (only my son can shove massive amounts of food in his mouth and still look like a stick!). Now 4months later, we have cut all the way down bacon and replaced it with turkey bacon, don't get it twisted! Whenever we eat breakfast out, we devour the pig!! We have also cut back on sugar, koolaid is replaced with crystal light (sometimes with a splash of sugar depending on the flavor) and baking has replaced frying (even though I WILL still get it in on occasion!). Needless to say, making those few cutbacks even without constant exercise, we are losing and winning at the same time! Now it's time to not just get active but serious with exercise! I plan to cut a size by June (remember I'm tall) and we all plan to be much healthier because of these small things!! Here are a few suggestions:
1. Take out most pork and beef. We eat chicken and turkey most days and at least once every two weeks eat red meat (lean) and pork even more seldom. Ground turkey is the new ground beef!!
2. Kick the koolaid and pop out! Each has waaaaay too much sugar!! Well, we just put too much sugar in koolaid but whatever! 100% juice, water and crystal light are our buddies!! Oh and the fountain drinks from gas stations and fat (yes fat) food places? Twice as much sugar because its made from syrup and carbonated water. •_• Who does that?!
3. Bake, bake and bake some more!! Oven fried chicken is the sheezy!! Garlic baked fish is mm mm good too!!
4. Watch your junk food intake, and slow down on the cheese! Switch to 2% milk cheese, frozen yogurt from ice cream and become best friends with smaller portions!
5. Portion size is everything! If you eat 5 smaller meals, not 5 times at a fat food place, you will still lose weight! Smart phone users, Lose It! And Spake People are great ways to manage what you eat!
6. Move!! Just because you don't have time for a vigorous exercise life doesn't mean you can't lose! Cleaning house is a fat buster if you do it right! I know this is cruel punishment but park far away from the store or mall and do a little power walk (if you have kids, make a walking race, and don't forget your inhalers!) use steps, unless you goin up 25 floors then the elevator IS your best friend! Also when going up stairs, SQUEEZE!! It's the perfect lunge/ stair master!
Last, don't be discouraged because you are diligent and still don't lose! What most people fail to tell you is you will gain before you start to lose! So just keep at it and by all means, for the first month, stay away from the accursed scale!! Enjoy!

Losing to win

He's On His Way!
Be patient and
wait for the LORD to act; don't be worried about those who prosper or
those who succeed in their evil plans. Don't give in to worry or
anger; it only leads to trouble. Those who trust in the LORD will
possess the land, but the wicked will be driven out. Soon the wicked
will disappear; you may look for them, but you won't find them; but
the humble will possess the land and enjoy prosperity and peace. (Psalm
37:7-11 GNT)
This week, the week that started off in a
celebration of Christ's being raised from the dead. It seems the very next day
started the battle! It was one thing after another; each day brought more tense
opposition than the next. It has been a crazy week! I wasn't too sure by
Tuesday night how much more I could take.... And then I was reminded of WHO my
Dad is and that I could run and tell Him anytime I needed to. That's what I
did! You see, Tuesday was a negative attack. Negative words, followed by
negative thoughts. And negative thoughts always
spew negative actions, but by that time already spoken to the only
one who could calm me down and detox me from the negative poison! Too late,
devil!! Of course, he didn't stop there, oh no! The night wasn't over by far
and by the time my tired body got up the next morning, I was more than
completely done. But the enemy of my soul didn't stop there. He then started in
on money woes and how I didn’t have enough for the week, most of you know the
reminders.
That was two weeks ago that I wrote the above.
This blog was supposed to be something I wrote in daily and posted weekly. But
the enemy had different plans and more importantly, so did my Father. You
see this was not a run of the mill, one time small attack. These attacks came
regularly and were up until the end of this year. 2012 has been a series of
patience reminders and training all leading up to the title of this blog....
He's on His way! That's what I thought most of the year. Then God started
showing me something else. It's not that He's on His way to help, we are on
ours! The only time in the Bible where God speaks about coming to us is
"on a cloud, Jesus will return for us other than that we’re to wait for
Him to ACT, not COME! He is our EVER PRESENT help in our time of need. He is
already with us! He just waits for us to arrive.... probably mentally!
I am in my rest stage which includes waiting for
Him to act. Meanwhile He has been waiting for me to have a V-8 moment and get
with His program, thus would require abandoning mine. Oh wait! That sounds like
a verse I know! Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding." After talking to a friend
today and a leading from the Lord, I know that we arrive for Him to step in
when we fully surrender and trust what He is doing no matter where it takes us.
And that's scary, well at least for me. I have a hard time truly trusting at
ALL times when something in front of me says something totally different.
So here is my challenge for this year. K-LOVE has a 30 day
challenge to only listen to music that encourages and elevates Christ. Info
here at this site: http://www.klove.com/ministry/30-day.aspx I do
this along with a 21 Daniel Fast (daniel-fast.com) and a rest from all that pull my family from
God.... including, Facebook. My challenge is that you find a power word, mine
is TRUST (ha!!), and plan to do these cleansing and resting tools. See you in
February!! Blessings of the Lord on you!
